Civitan Creed

I AM CIVITAN: as old as life, as young as the rainbow, as endless as time.

MY HANDS do the work of the world and reach out in service to others.

MY EARS hear the cry of children and the call throughout the world for peace, guidance, progress, and unity.

MY EYES search for others to join in the fellowship and service of Civitan.

MY MOUTH utters the call of daily duty and speaks prayers in every tongue.

MY MIND teaches me respect for law and the flag of my country.

MY HEART beats for every friend, bleeds for every injury to humanity and throbs with joy at every triumph of truth.

MY SOUL knows no fear but its own unworthiness.

MY HOPE is for a better world through Civitan.

MY MOTTO: builders of good citizenship.

MY BELIEF: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

MY PLEDGE: to practice the golden rule and to build upon it, a better and nobler citizenship.

The Civitan Logo

Civ_Logo_Trans_background

ALTHOUGH the logo of Civitan has changed a few times over the years, it has significant points that have remained constant.

THE GOLD color represents purity of highly refined metal, indicative of those who would volunteer their time.

THE BLUE is a regal color that, together with the gold, has become symbolic of many service club organizations, dating back to the early part of this century.

THE "C" surrounding the globe represents Civitan service around the world.

From Immediate Past Governor James Jones

Without5

As we come to the close of my term as governor of the Alabama-West Florida district, I want to thank the leaders on my team for a job well done.  All of our board members, as well as our chairpersons, worked hard to make this year a success.

I truly believe that our district, DISTRICT 3, is the best district in all of Civitan International.

We are so fortunate to have very dedicated Civitans that still believe in hard work. Those that still believe in setting goals and working hard, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, to achieve those goals.

We have certainly made a positive difference in our world by making a commitment to the principles that Civitan International has put before us. We have met all challenges with an attitude of working together to make our district, DISTRICT 3, the best in the whole organization.

I know without a doubt that the world is a better place because of the Alabama-West Florida district. We have added new clubs this year as well as several new Jr. Civitan clubs. We had two very good district meetings and a convention that was second to none.  What a great year.

I am thankful for the opportunity to have served you all as your governor.  I would like  to ask you all to continue to support this district and our next governor, John McCall, as we soar to new heights.

WE are district 3.  WE are the best district in Civitan International.  We will continue to make a difference in this world.  WE ARE CIVITAN !!!!

(Apr 5, 2011)

Please join me in congratulating Jim Smith on earning the Distinguished Governors Award for 2009-2010.

Many do not understand that this award is not handed out to everyone, but it is EARNED by few.  For those of us that know Jim, it is no surprise that he has earned this award.  His enthusiasm, his love for Civitan, and his willingness to stay the course and stay committed to the goals of Civitan shines from his efforts.  Jim spent many, many, many hours of his time and lots of his personal resources to achieve this award.  He knows that lives have been made better because of this commitment to the goals of this great organization.

Because of Jim's hard work, we get to enjoy the rewards of being a Quality Achievement District.  We should hold our heads up and smile.  After all, WE are district 3.  WE are the best district in Civitan International.  Through the efforts to earn these awards, WE can know that WE improved the lives of people in our communities that otherwise would not have been touched.

Jim, my hat is off to you.  I want to thank you for ALL that you do and ALL the time and money that you devote to Civitan.  I am proud to be counted as one of your friends and colleagues.

Club Presidents, please acknowledge this to your club at your meetings.  It is an award our district can be proud of and one that exemplifies FIRST CLASS leadership from a man that loves Civitan and its goals.
